First of all, schooling in Hungary is compulsory until the age of 18, and basic education is provided for pupils up to 16 years of age. Teaching is done in Hungarian, but some institutions for ethnic minorities offer other languages (German, Romanian, Slovenian, Serbian, Croatian …). Pre-primary education welcomes children aged 3 to 7, the last year being compulsory. There is only one french school in Budapest wich is the High school Gustave-Eiffel.

Then primary education divided into 2 cycles, 6 to 10 years, then 10 to 14 years, followed by vocational secondary from 14 to 18 years or general secondary from 14 to 18 years.
The rating system is completely different from France. Indeed, examinations are rated on 5 points. You can’t have half point. So, if you have 1, it’s a failure. 2 points is just the average to succes the test.

To be able to pass the final exam, you need to have the signature. During the semester, you have two test about the knowledge of each courses and if you have minimum 2 for each test. You can obtain the signature to pass the final examination. It’s possible to make a retake of all test if you don’t have 2.
